Steve Brown - Update Aug 7 2008
Aug 09, 2008

Steve has updated us on his amazing progress:

I had a CT Scan on Monday, just met with Dr. Pierce today, and
we discussed the results and the plan going forward. This was the first scan
in six months, and it should no new cancer and was basically no different
than the other scans from the last year. I think Dr. Pierce and the
Radiologists all think the last two spots on the Liver are scar tissue, not
active or live cancer cells. Dr. Pierce is under the impression that I am
now in complete remission. It was decided today that we would stop Chemo for
three months and do another CT Scan in October, and just see what happens.
He again told me that we are way off the map, and in unchartered territory.
So basically he is unaware of anyone else that has lived this long, and
responded so well with this form of Cancer. But, he says somebody has to be
the first, so it might as well be me.

Thank You all for the continuing prayers and support, but don't
stop now. I have mixed feelings about stopping the chemo. On one hand I am
glad for a break after 31 months; but on the other hand it is kind of scary
to just stop something that seems to be keeping me alive. I know I should
not worry, it is all in God's hands and has been from day one, but human
nature is impossible to change.

Who knows, if all goes well over the next 3-6 months I might
even be back to work with Salem Fire Dept. by spring.

I just wanted to share the good news with everyone, and say
Thanks. We are leaving tomorrow for Central Oregon, where I will leave Susie
and the kids. Mom, Mikel and I are then continuing in her car onto Idaho for
Patrick's wedding Saturday night at 7. Sunday morning early we will drive
back to Bend, where Susie's niece, Lianna, is getting married Sunday at 2.
After the wedding Mom and Mikel head home to Salem, and Susie, the kids and
I are going to Prineville reservoir to meet up with friends and camp for the
week. If all goes well we will be home Friday or Saturday, and start getting
ready for the upcoming school year. So if you don't hear from me soon don't
worry I'm not ignoring you. Again Thank You, Steve.
