Brothers and Sisters, we are starting the full campaign push on Monday, May 21st. We need your commitment to cover your respective response areas with the feet on the street flyer drop.  Oregon State Fire Fighters President Kelly Bach and I visited several stations today reminding our members of the importance of everyones involvement in this campaign.
Brothers & Sisters,   We are trying to report on emergency calls that our members respond to so we can let the community know what you do.  If it’s pulling someone out of a fire, a code save, or fixing a customer’s fence these are all stories the community should know about it.   We need your help and ask you to forward your stories on to us.

Brothers and Sisters,  It is unfortunate that we find ourselves here today.  I am  surprised by their decision to close two fire stations at this time, as you are aware we recommended one station and several other options.
Brothers & Sisters, We are asking for your help.  It is imperative that we recruit citizens of Salem to attend neighborhood association meetings and speak in support of fire protection/public safety.   We are requesting that each member:   1.
Brothers and Sisters   The on-line vote results for using up to $2500.00 out of savings to assist the in the campaign for engine 11 are in.    44 people voted 39 yes 5 no   At this point I do not foresee a need to use any money out of savings at this time.
January 27, 2012   Brothers and Sisters,   It is apparent to all that the City Manager and Fire Chief have made their position clear, despite our best efforts to convince them otherwise.  That does not change our position.  This may be what they feel is necessary.
January 11, 2012   Brothers and Sisters, as you know, yesterday we held a press conference regarding the closure of station #11.  We are committed to fighting any and all reductions to our line fire fighters.  This is just the beginning of what we anticipate to be a long process. We will need your help to be successful in this endeavor.
1-17-12   Brothers and Sisters, yesterday Salem Fire Fighters conducted our first SOS Campaign phone bank, it was a success! Twenty seven (27) members showed, including Olivia Wagoner (Clint and Gladys Wagoner’s daughter) as well as Don and Nan Fleck.  I understand Nan Fleck even got a quiche pie recipe on one of her calls.
Brothers and Sisters, tomorrow is the phone bank event.  It is critical that we have your assistance with this, please take a minute and notify Chuck that you will be attending.  This is a grass roots effort requiring your involvement!  A few of us can only accomplish so much; all of us working together can resolve this.
